Accessibility Statement

ChildMetrix Reports · Last updated September 2026

We want every agency staff member to be able to use the portal, including people who rely on assistive technology.

Draft for review. This statement reflects the current state of the portal and will be updated as testing and fixes progress.

Our target

The portal aims to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard referenced by Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act for federal and federally funded systems.

What works today

  • All pages can be navigated with a keyboard. Menus open with Enter or Space and close with Escape.
  • Form fields on the sign-in, password reset, invite, and account pages have visible labels.
  • Menus and dialogs carry ARIA roles and expanded/collapsed state so screen readers announce them.
  • Text and controls resize with browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content, and the layout adapts to narrow screens.
  • Colour is not the only carrier of meaning in report tables: indicators also use text labels and, where a data quality flag applies, an amber marker with a text explanation.

Known limitations

  • Charts in the CFSR Measures pages are rendered as graphics. The underlying figures are available in the tables on the same page and in the Data Dictionary, but the charts themselves do not yet have equivalent text descriptions.
  • PNG exports of tables and PowerPoint presentation decks are images and are not accessible to screen readers. The same data is available on the web pages.
  • Some source documents linked from Notes & Resources are PDFs published by federal agencies; their accessibility depends on the publisher.
  • Portal content is loaded inside a frame. Screen reader users may need to move focus into the frame to reach report content.

Feedback and alternative formats

If you cannot access something in the portal, or need a report in a different format, email info@childmetrix.com. Tell us the page you were on and what happened. We aim to respond within five business days and will work with your agency to provide the information in a form you can use.

How we test

We check new pages with keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom, and automated accessibility tooling before release, and review reports of problems from agency users as they come in.
